Day at the Farm

My sister, Joyce, invited us up to see her handiwork of the past several months at the Eastburn farmhouse in Benton County and it was really quite a striking transformation. The weather was partly sunny, but still a very eye-watering cold 28 degrees and windy outside. However once inside the farmhouse, Joyce had made everything warm and inviting. There was even a wood fire going in the living room fire place. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Joyce, Mary and Barbara had prepared a lovely lunch consisting of a tasty Ruben casserole, cooked farm grown apples, and pumpkin spiced cookies -- simply delicious. Unfortunately, Mary had hit a deer while driving in her car the night before so with Barbara's assistance, she was dealing with getting her car towed to the repair shop. Thankfully she wasn't hurt and she thought the deer was able to run (or maybe it was stumble) away as well. Will, Stephanie and Ben showed up in the early afternoon. It was so nice to get a chance to visit with all of them. Will was kinda hoping that after Mary's misadventures they'd be having some venison stew for dinner, but no such luck. Of course Ben (19 months old now) was the center of attention and activity. I don't think he ever stopped moving the whole time we were there, unless it was just a quick grab-'n'-go pit stop for something to eat and drink. I think this visit was the most time I've ever actually spent inside the farmhouse at any one given time and I enjoyed it, so I think that is testament to how nice everything really looked and felt. Great job, Joyce.
