IUMC Workday 2002

IRVINGTON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH SPRING WORKDAY: Saturday, April 27th, 2002. A little tender loving care was given to our church building and grounds today. As Chairman of our Board of Trustees, I helped organize and participate in our annual Spring church workday. Sorry to say the weather didn't really cooperate, as a chilly rain settled in for most of the day, so outside activities were curtailed until better weather. Although upon close inspection, I must day the church grounds looked very neat and tidy, bushes had been trimmed, and leaves had been picked up. There were plenty of activities on the inside though to keep everyone very busy. Greg Steuer started organizing plaster repair work for various areas in the sanctuary. Don Boyle put on a very good window sash repair clinic. Wayne Spinks had built a beautiful walnut handrail for the south stairs while Don and I saw to its proper installation. Wayne was in charge of replacing bad and missing floor tile in the fellowship hall. Helen Kesterson put out a challenge to the women of the church to have more participants than the men. By my count it was a tie if you include a couple of teenage boys, but otherwise, I'd say the ladies won. Way to go, Helen! Restrooms and windows got a good cleaning -- lightbulbs got replaced. Sue and Hollie organized lunch. Thank you sooo much! All in all, I think we were able to check many items off our extensive "To-Do" list. Everyone's help was greatly appreciated and a special thanks to all the Trustees who helped organize the day's events.

I've added the cad files of the church for anyone who would like a copy. Use the save target command to save a copy of the zip file to your own computer.
