SEPTEMBER 2001 -- JANE'S BIRTHDAY: Because of world events, this will be a month we will always remember. Janet and I had just been up to visit Jane at BSU to help her celebrate her 21st birthday on Sunday, September 9th. We took Jane and some of her friends out to dinner and had a small party back at her apartment afterwards. Oh yeah, Jane is the one with the red hair. I wander how that happened? I guess she was tired of all the blond jokes. --

Of course her birthday is actually on September 11th and we all know what happened on that tragic day. I don't think any of us will ever forget the images and events we saw unfold "live" on broadcast television. My heart goes out to the thousands who lost there lives and their families who now must carry on in their absense. I know Jane was especially distraught that it happened on her big day, but that was just an unfortunate coincidence. Jane, we're just glad to have birthdays to celebrate no matter what the day. It was very eerie not seeing (hearing) any planes or contrails in the sky for a few days. Our trip to Croatia that was planned for this November has been cancelled due to lack of interest at this particular time in our history and a general desire for self preservation. Travel, especially outside our great country, has somehow lost it's appeal right now. I'm sure, though, one day we'll be excited to go exploring again.
DAD AND KATHY HOUSE MOVE: My father and Kathy have just moved to a new house. They're still on the east side of Indianapolis, just a little further north now. They bought a very nice condominium that should be very nice for the two of them. Dad had the porch screened in which should make for a great place to enjoy the outside minus the bugs.
FAMILY DINNER: Dave Durish and Joyce hosted a very nice family chili dinner at Dave's house up in Zionsville on Monday the 17th. Dave, you gotta get me that chili recipe! It was really nice to be with family and share a meal after last week. Oh by the way, Dave asked Joyce an important question the following weekend. But I'm not going to spoil the surprise here. You'll have to ask her about it yourself. Congratulations you two!
HOME PICTURES: I must say we've had one of the most perfect month's, weatherwise, that I can recall. For the most part we've had blue skies, beautiful cloud formations, and cool days and evenings have been the norm. Fall is definitely in the air. Charles, I took the storm pictures for you.
SEE DOT RUN: And on a lighter note, please check out Dot and her recent adventures into the jungles of our back yard. Her electric fence collar must have run out of batteries and she went over the "line" to scout out some critter hole beneath a pile of logs. It kept her occupied from 10:30 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon. She dug a huge hole and was covered in dirt and mud. Janet said she came back up to the side door of our house around 4pm and collapsed from exhaustion. We don't think she ever reached her quarry. Or else they just snuck out the back way and laughed at her from afar. Be fore warned, these pictures and movies are not Dot's best side or should I say end? But (and that's the operative word here) they are pretty funny. What a dog! Dot Pics</a --
As far as the movies go you might want to try "Right" clicking on these links and "Save Target As" a file to your own computer unless you have a fast connection. They each have a 15 second play length, but take much longer to load. I think they're especially worth seeing, though. --
