US Grand Prix 2001

UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX AT INDIANAPOLIS: We joined Don and Julie Able for the second United States Grand Prix held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. My, what a difference! We attended the innaugural event last year and the weather was simply terrible -- rain, cold, wind -- we were miserable. But this year was faaaaantastic! We changed our seating to the H Section which was great. We saw all the action coming down the straight-a-way and into the hairpin first turn and then into several tight turns before disappearing south behind the grandstands. The Red Cross passed out American Flags and patriotism filled the stands. There were empty seats, but there still seemed to be a very large and enthusiastic crowd of people. We took time to tour some of the special events tents down in the Southeast area of the track before and during the races. First there was a Porche race, then a Ferrari (the most quite race - didn't need earplugs) and finally the Formula 1 race at 1 pm. We were back home by 3:45 thanks especially to a primo parking space that Don discovered.
